Consulting friend

Today one of my friends ask me about what she should choose for her future career? She said she had good experience in one of the old technologies, had good exposure on that. However this technology is now not much in requirement list of present market. So that's why she was bit nervous and in tension about her future career.
I told her to do the market research and note down the companies names who are still in this technology. But the result wasn't that good. Currently she is working on other technology as her technology projects are not started or expected to start yet.
She said she is under tension because of no jobs coming to her in which she is master. Hence she is trying learn new technologies parallel to her own technology.
Somehow she is trying to catch the pace in new work. But she said she didn't feel like driven to her new work as she used to driven earlier.
She also contacted her old friends who worked with her in past on are technologies. They were also facing the same situation as she did. Only difference was they were keep on changing locations and companies to retain same technology which she can't afford to do so. As she is married and has little daughter, she can't risk of travelling to out of city location because that will cause her to start to think again about the caring part of her baby. In IT, we all knew that the work has start time but no end time, due to this we kept spending more than 9 hrs in companies.
So now as a friend she asked me about her decision as she is not able to make up her mind on what to choose for her future career. I suggested her to keep looking for job of her interest but don't neglect about the fact that in today's world technology keep changing so she'll also need to give try to learn new technology for her future career. I explained her that in our IT world technology keeps changing so we also need to keep pace with it. This will help us to improve more in perspective of career. I also told her that even if you learn new things, it'll never go bad or waste. You can compete more in interviews. She agrees to it. She said she'll give try. She thanked me for helping out her to take decision.

Finally she made her decision to join other firm as she was not sure when she will get the project of her choice. Now she's in that company where she worked earlier. They offered her good package with lead position in the technology. She is happy now. Sometimes I pinged her ask about howse the work going.
Sometimes I asked her whether she still remember me or not. Then she replied how can this happen? I'll never forget you. You were there to help me to take decision and other help too.
